Sjarhej Kalyakin

Syarhey Ivanavich Kaljakin ( Belarusian Сяргей Калякін ; Russian Сергей Иванович Калякин / Sergei Ivanovich Kaljakin * 16th June 1952 in Minsk , USSR; today Belarus ) is a Belarusian politician and leader of the United Left Party "Just World" .

Life

Kaljakin studied radio engineering at the State University of Computer Science and Radioelectronics and then political science at the Belarusian State University (BSU).

In 1991, Kaljakin became a member of the newly founded "Party of Belarusian Communists" and stood ten years later as a candidate for the 2001 presidential election . In 2009 he became the chairman of the "pro-western" United Left Party "Just World", as the former "Party of Belarusian Communists" calls itself today. He announced his candidacy for the 2015 presidential election in Belarus , but failed to collect enough signatures.

Kaljakin is non-denominational.
