The Belarusian United Left Party "Just World" ( Russian Белорусская партия левых "Справедливый мир" , Belarusian Беларуская партыя аб'яднаных левых "Справядлівы сьвет" ) is a party in Belarus . It is directed by Siarhiej Kaliakin . It aims to democratize the country and to end the authoritarian dictatorship of President Aljaksandr Lukashenka .

history

The United Left Party was founded on December 7, 1991 as the "Party of Communists of Belarus". In 1993 it was renamed "Party of Belarusian Communists". In 1996 there was a split within the party. While the majority of the members opposed the policies of President Aljaksandr Lukashenka, some members supported the head of state and therefore founded the Communist Party of Belarus . On October 25, 2009, the United Left Party determined its current name. The party has been a member of the European Left (EL) since October 2009 . She took part in the protests in Belarus in 2020 and supported the demonstrators.
