Change (spelling: WANDEL; because of the character limit also WANDL) is a party founded in Austria in September 2012 , which ran for the 2013 National Council and 2014 European elections. In the 2019 National Council election , the change took the nationwide candidacy. Central themes of the party are fair distribution, equal opportunities and sustainable management. The aim is to turn away from global capitalism.

politics

The change sees itself as a progressive party. The party calls for the prosperity of the general public and for everyone to participate in the financial and social prosperity that has been created. The principles and goals of change are set out in the Manifesto Democratic Modernism - A Manifesto for Change . There the turning away from global capitalism and the shift in power from global oligarchies to the people are outlined as a goal.

organization

The change is a pure federal party without formal state organizations. The national board consists of Christian Raming, Christoph Schütter, Daniela Platsch , Fayad Mulla , Konrad Steurer and Michael Gunczy. The party is financed through donations and membership fees. Revenue and expenditure on the website published the party.

National Council election 2013

In the National Council election on September 29, 2013 , the change in Vienna and Upper Austria received 3,051 votes, which corresponds to 0.19 percent of the votes cast.

European elections 2014

In the European elections on May 25, 2014 , the change in the electoral alliance Europe initiated by him began differently together with the KPÖ , the Austrian Pirate Party and independents. Already seen in polls at over 4 percent, it was 2.14 percent on election day.

WandeLAN

As part of the refugee crisis in 2015, Wandel organized the WandeLAN project. Self-made WiFi suitcases provided people on the run with free WiFi. Broad media coverage and hundreds of donations meant that a total of 15 changing locations at borders and accommodations could be supplied with the WandeLAN by 2018.

European elections 2019

In the 2019 European elections, Daniela Platsch, political director and member of the board of change, ran for second place behind Yanis Varoufakis on the electoral list for Democracy in Europe - DiEM25 in Germany , the joint list of DiEM25 and Democracy in Motion . Yanis Varoufakis, who is running in Germany, said:

“If I should be elected to parliament, I will put my proposals to the electorate on how to improve things in Europe - and then I will leave parliament to campaign in Greece. My seat will then be taken over by Daniela Platsch, a very capable economist. I think the voters will understand. "

National Council election 2019

In the National Council election on September 29, 2019, the change occurred nationwide for the first time in Austria. The top team were Fayad Mulla and Daniela Platsch .

The change received 0.5% of the vote in the National Council election (preliminary final result).

State elections

The state elections in Vorarlberg 2019 were the first state elections to which the change took place. The party received 1,475 or 0.89% of the vote. In the run-up to the state and municipal council elections in Vienna 2020 , in which Wandel only ran for candidates at the district level, the party caused a sensation with allegations against Heinz-Christian Strache . His running as the top candidate for his team HC Strache is not legal, since Strache does not have his main residence in Vienna, as requested, but in Klosterneuburg .
