Skaladdin is a Swiss ska punk band from Hinterkappelen in the municipality of Wohlen near Bern .

Band history

Skaladdin was founded in 1998 by eight young people from Bern. After some initial difficulties, the line-up with Markus Luginbühl, Manuel Furrer, Peter Luginbühl, Philipp Erhart, Philipp Rohr, Florian Weber and Marc Fuhrer was determined. In its early days, the band mainly played cover versions of their favorite ska bands. Following the example of the skacore band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones , the band created their own ska style some time later : Ska-punk with influences from different musical genres. At the same time, many American ska-punk bands discovered the European continent, a great opportunity for Skaladdin; so they had the opportunity to act as the opening act for these international greats.

In 1999 the group started playing concerts. Two years later, in November 2001, she released her first album under the title Rub the Lamp on her own label, Pimp Records. This was followed by concerts throughout Switzerland and abroad. In July 2002 the band was even allowed to perform at the Gurten Festival in Bern. You can now look back on a good 150 concerts, including with international bands such as Liquido, Sens Unik, Reel Big Fish, Skarface, Shandon, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Save Ferris or Big D & the Kids Table.

In 2004 the band released their second album, Far-Off From Okay . This was followed by a tour under the same name. After the Thunfest on August 13, 2005, singer Manuel Furrer left the band. In 2006 the group released their third album: Young, Handsome & We Know It . The band spent the year on a world tour. The Bernese toured Europe from mid-March and from July 4 to October 28, 2006 through South and North America, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and South Africa. Today the band is one of the most famous ska bands in Switzerland.

The band room neighbors of Skaladdin in Hinterkappelen are the musicians of the ska band Open Season .
