The Ortler Ski Club (officially: Amateursportverein SKI CLUB ORTLER-Raiffeisen ) is a South Tyrolean ski club and, as an umbrella organization, unites the winter sports activities of the towns of Stilfs , Sulden and Trafoi . Its club members have successfully taken part in South Tyrolean and Italian championships , world championships and Olympic winter games. He is a member of the Italian Winter Sports Federation - Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali .

history

The existing ski clubs SC Stilfs, SC Trafoi and SC Sulden merged on October 29, 1979 to form the Ortler amateur ski club (ASC Ortler). In 2017, the club was renamed Ski Club Ortler. It is a member of the Italian Winter Sports Federation ( FISI ) and has around 200 members. Of these, around 40 active racing drivers are starting for the ski club in the youth, senior and masters categories.

The presidents were:

  • Friedrich Paulmichl from its founding (1979) to 1982
  • Alfons Thoma from 1982 to 1995, youth coordinator at the Italian winter sports association FISI
  • Hermann Ortler since 1996

Trafoi ski club

The SC Trafoi was founded in 1934 and the first president was Gustav Ortler.

Events ski races

The Ortler Ski Club organizes several ski races every year. These include elimination races for children, schoolchildren, pupils, valuation races for juniors and seniors (Finstralcup races), propaganda races for all categories with foreign participation, and international youth races (FIS junior races), club and section races.

Well-known races are or were:

  • At the beginning of the 90s, two races as part of the Alpine Ski Europe Cup in Sulden
  • South Tyrolean Spring Championships ( FIS races ) (since 1988)
  • International Amateur Ski Cup (IAS Cup)
  • International Suldenspitz race in Sulden (for over 70 years)
  • Anniversary classic
  • Ortler Trophy (together with ASV Prad)

Successful racers

The most successful racers who belonged to the Ortler Ski Club include:

  • Gustav Thöni (* 1951), four-time world cup winner, world champion and Olympic champion
  • Roland Thöni (* 1951), World Cup winner and second in the Olympics
  • Karlheinz Tschenett (* ??), Italian champion and a fixed starter in World Cup races for several years
  • Gustav Tschenett (* ??), multiple Italian champion in the youth categories and today director of the sports school in Mals
  • Christian Thoma (* 1974), multiple Italian champion in the youth categories, winner of the national and international Topolino race, and later national trainer of the national slalom team and ski trainer
  • Nicole Gius (* 1980), former racer in the 1st Italian national team in slalom and giant slalom, Italian champion in slalom, fixed start in the World Cup, winner of the international Topolino race
  • Alexander Ortler (* 1985), three-time Italian champion in the category pupils, slalom, giant slalom + Super-G, winner of the International Topolino race in America, athlete of the Italian national team
  • Larissa Hofer (* 1986), athlete of the Italian national team with races in the European Cup; Wins various FIS races at home and abroad and good results in European Cup races
