A ski suit , in Austria ski suit is a garment which when skiing particular as well as other winter sports ( sledding , skating etc.) is worn.

Executions

A distinction is made between two different versions:

  • Two-piece ski suits, which consist of a combination of a jacket (sometimes anorak ) and pants (the latter sometimes made as dungarees )
  • One -piece ski suits, which are known as ski overall or snowsuit. Ski overalls began to decline in popularity in the late 1980s and are now mainly seen as winter clothing for children.

In the past, ski suits usually had a water-repellent outer layer made of nylon and were usually very thick (over 5 mm) padded to protect them from the cold. Today's ski suits are usually equipped with modern (sometimes "intelligent") fabrics that are both weatherproof and air-permeable (e.g. Gore-Tex ).

Many ski pants have a bar at each leg end , as well as braces ; in the professional sector, protectors are sewn in.
