The Ratschings-Jaufen ski area ( Italian Area sciistica Racines-Giovo ) is a ski area in the South Tyrolean Ratschingstal in Italy .

The ski area is located in the extreme southeast of the Stubai Alps , around eleven kilometers southwest of Sterzing . Immediately to the south-east are the Sarntal Alps . The valley location of the lifts is Bichl , a part of the Innerratschings fraction belonging to the municipality of Ratschings . At the eastern edge of the ski area is the Jaufenpass , which can also be used to access the ski area in around 2020  m slm . The highest altitude of the ski area is reached at the mountain station of the Saxner lift with about ( 2220  m slm ). The lowest point in the ski area is the valley station of the single-cable circulating gondola Ratschings-Jaufen ( 1290  m slm ).

The opening of the ski area took place in 1973. Since then, the area has been gradually expanded and continuously modernized. The operator of the profitable ski area is Ratschings-Jaufen GmbH. The Kalcheralm chairlift, built in 1993 and integrated into the ski area, is operated by its own company, Kalcheralmlift GmbH.

Infrastructure

There are eight lifts in the ski area. The most important access to the slopes is via a single-cable gondola lift from Innerratschings. There are also five detachable chair lifts and one fixed-grip chair lift in the ski area . In the valley, in the immediate vicinity of the central car park, there is a short practice slope with a drag lift. The total length of all slopes is 25 km.
