Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san ( Japanese ガ イ コ ツ 書店 員 本田 さ ん ) is a manga series by Honda that has been released in Japan since 2015. It tells short stories about the everyday life of a bookseller and was adapted several times as an anime television series in 2018 , which also became known internationally as the Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san .

The skeleton Honda-san works as a bookseller in the manga department of a large store and tells of his daily experiences. Among his colleagues, he is particularly responsible for foreign comics and art books , include the department head Armor, responsible for Boys' Love and with an armor helmet; Kamibukuro, in charge of Yonkoma and with a paper bag on his head; the bandaged Hōtai who takes care of Shōjo manga; the motorcycle helmet wearing full face for books by Sho-G-Kan; as well as the Ko-omote responsible for novels, wearing a Nō mask. The bunny-headed Rabbit Head takes care of books for games, the pumpkin-headed Lantern takes care of books by Shu-E-Sha and Okitsune with a fox's head is responsible for books by Kou-D-Sha. The young Kendo with a Kendo mask was recently transferred to the shop as a temporary worker.

The manga has been published in the online magazine pixiv Comic since August 2015 . Since March 2016, Media Factory has been publishing the chapters in three anthologies so far. On the recommendation list Kono Manga ga Sugoi! The series reached number 12 in 2016. It was also ranked on the Japanese bookshops' recommendation list for 2017.
Anime adaptation
In 2018, DLE created a 12-part anime series on the manga. Directed by Owl Todoroki and principal author was Shin Okashima . The character design was created by Naoko Kakiki and the sound was created by Yuichi Imaizumi. The 12-minute episodes have been broadcast in Japan by Tokyo MX , Sun Television , KBS and J: COM TV since October 8, 2018 . An international publication takes place at Crunchyroll with subtitles in various languages, including German and English.

The music in the series was produced by Lantis and recorded by Technoboys Pulcraft Green Fund. The group with voice actor Sōma Saitō as singer also the opening song ISBN ~ Inner Sound & Book's Narrative ~ and together with Hiroshi Takano the closing title Book-end, Happy-end.
