history

In 1998, Stefan Wendling founded the band Skullboogey, initially as a solo project with vocals, guitar, bass and drums, all of which he recorded himself in a home recording studio. Then the guitarist Jens Urban and the bassist Christian Zickmann joined them. They always belonged to the cast of Skullboogey, unlike the drummer Michael Joa, who also joined the band in the same year, with whom they made their live debut and performed at the Emergenza Europe Newcomer Festival . He gave up the post as drummer in 2002 to Thomas Eifert.

Together with him they performed at various festivals and recorded the debut album Life is a Pity , which received good feedback from the specialist press. In 2004 the new drummer Felix Brode joined the band and played various concerts a . a. at the Hessentag in Heppenheim . Finally, Skullboogey returned to the regular line-up in 2005 with Michael Joa on drums. This is how they made it to the final of the Global Battle of the Bands in Düsseldorf . After a few appearances in 2006 and 2007, they released their second album Dead $ Sold in mid-February 2008 , which was distributed by Finest Noise and Cargo Records . In 2009 drummer Michael Joa left the band again and was replaced by Ben Juelg. Since Juelg only joined the band during the recording of III , the drums on the album were completely recorded by Stefan Wendling. In 2010 the album III was also released on Finest Noise and Cargo Records. Skullboogey released a video for "Spitting Blood". In 2013 Skullboogey played at the Metalfest Germany on the Loreley before the band disappeared into the studio and began recording a new album. Singer Stefan fell ill at the beginning of 2014 and the recordings dragged on throughout the year. This time the production of the album was in the hands of Juelg. The band was not active live during this time. In August 2016 the new album Purified will be released on 7hard . The band is producing a video for “Speedin 'with the Devil” with Mario Stahn. For album promotion, the band plays the complete tracks of the new album live in the studio and films the performance. These videos will be published on the band's YouTube channel and on Facebook in advance of their release.
