Slano is a small town in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County in southern Croatia . Slano is about 30 kilometers northwest of Dubrovnik . The towns of Banja, Slano and Grgurići are located on the Slano Bay, followed by the Janska Bay with Banići and Kručica .

Slano was already inhabited in ancient times. There is a Roman castrum on the Gradina mountain . Slano was bought by the Republic of Dubrovnik in 1399 .

The Franciscan church still standing today was built in the 16th century. Parts of Slano are still destroyed by the Croatian-Serbian war , but are being rebuilt. The Hotel Admiral, located in the center of the village, was rebuilt in a considerably enlarged form and reopened in August 2008.
