Slavo Kukić (2016)

Slavo Kukić (* 1954 near Posušje , Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian sociologist and politician. He teaches as a professor at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Mostar , and also has lectureships at the Universities of Sarajevo and Split .

Life

In June 2011, Kukić , who was not part of an ethnic Croat, was nominated by the State Presidium for the post of Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the suggestion of Socijaldemokratska partija Bosne i Hercegovine . In the vote in parliament on June 29, 2011, 21 MPs voted for and 14 against Kukić; the votes against came from the representatives of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina , HDZ , HDZ 1990 , as well as from all representatives from the Republika Srpska who took part in the vote . The election of Kukić had thus failed because the approval of at least a third of the members of the three major population groups (Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats) would have been necessary. After the vote, Kukić announced that he would put together a government by the beginning of August, which parliament would then have to vote on.

After around 15 months without a government, Vjekoslav Bevanda (HDZ) was elected Prime Minister in January 2012 . In April 2014, Kukić announced that he would be running for the election of the state presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the end of 2012, Kukić was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia-Herzegovina .
