Slavcho Pentschew Binew ( Bulgarian Славчо Пенчев Бинев ; born December 10, 1965 in Sofia ), also known as Slavi Binew (also spelled Slavi Binev , or Bulgarian Слави Бинев) is a Bulgarian politician . From 2007 to 2014 he was a member of the European Parliament for the nationalist Ataka party , which he left in 2011. Slavcho Bonew is Balkan Champion (1990) and European Taekwondo Champion from Celje, Slovenia (1992). He is the holder of the 5th DAN . The gymnast Miroslawa Binewa is his daughter.

Life

Slavcho Binev was born in the Bulgarian capital Sofia in 1965. As a primary school, he attended the "47th Emil Markow Sports School" between 1973 and 1979 . He completed his secondary school leaving certificate in the “9. French High School ”also in Sofia in 1984. After that he was accepted at the National Sports Academy Wasil Levski at the Faculty of Education, specializing in tennis and boxing. In 1990 he finished the sports academy with a master’s degree .

Between 2004 and 2007 he did his PhD at the Institute of Psychology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Slavcho Binew has been Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Association since 1996; since 2003 chairman of the committee for the social support of athletes at the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOK); since 2003 member of the research committee of the World Taekwondo Federation and since 2006 member of the executive office of the BOK and chairman of the gifted foundation of the BOK and the state agency for youth and sport (DAMS).

From September 2005 to December 31, 2006, Binew was a member of the Bulgarian EU Parliament observer delegation . In the 2007 European elections, the Ataka party was elected from the list as a member of the European Parliament. In the European elections in 2009 she was confirmed as such, also as a candidate for the Ataka party. As an EU parliamentarian, Binew is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs , of the delegation for relations with the countries of Central America and of the delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly .

In 2011 he resigned from the Ataka party. In May 2012 he founded a party called People for Real, Open and United Democracy (PROUD), which in 2014 was absorbed into the National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB). In December 2012 he joined the Europe of Freedom and Democracy Group . In 2014 he left the European Parliament after the NSFB failed to enter the European Parliament with 3.05%. Binew was a board member of the European party Movement for a Europe of Freedom and Democracy (MELD). He has been a member of the Alliance for Direct Democracy in Europe (ADDE) since 2016 .
