Sleep Late (* 1991 ; † November 30, 2012 ) was a successful eventing horse .

The gray gelding Sleep Late was a British sport horse ( Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain ), his father was the stallion Kuwait Beach xx , his dam mare Fast Asleep was descended from the thoroughbred stallion Evening Trial xx . Sleep Late was born at the age of 3 by Dr. Annette and Dr. Peter Wyrwoll imported to Germany from Great Britain and joined Ingrid Klimke in 1998 . Sleep Late was nicknamed Blue in the Klimke stable .

Ridden by Ingrid Klimke, Sleep Late took part in the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004 as well as in the European Championships in 1999 and 2005.

Sleep Late was retired from sport in Münster in 2007 and was then only ridden by Ingrid Klimke's mother Ruth for leisure purposes. In May 2010 he returned from retirement and was first presented at the CCI 1 * Everswinkel by Frederike Weitkamp, ​​who previously rode ponies. Supported by Ingrid Klimke, she took part with Sleep Late in the German junior championship. After taking part in international CIC / CCI 1 * exams, he was finally taken out of the sport and was allowed to spend his life in the paddock from then on. He died at the end of November 2012.
