The Schelde type is a series cargo ship type produced by the Slovenské Lodenice shipyard in Komárno .

details

The coasters of the Scheldt type are designed as multi-purpose dry cargo ships with a deckhouse far aft and a long hold . The type has a fixed deckhouse and a largely box-shaped hold with a volume of 5891 m 3 , the two hatches of which are closed by electro-hydraulic folding hatch covers and in which two movable bulkheads can be used. The cargo area is 70.85 meters long, 10.20 meters wide and 8.17 meters high. The tank roof is reinforced for cargo handling with grabs and the transport of heavy goods . A total of 297 20-foot containers ( TEU ) can be transported, 129 TEU in the hold and a further 168 TEU on the hatch covers. With a homogeneous load with 14-tonne 20-foot containers, the transport of up to 185 TEU is possible.

The ships of the series are powered by a Deutz six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type TBD 645 L6 with an output of around 2550 kW, which acts on a variable-pitch propeller and a shaft generator via a reduction gear . Auxiliary and emergency diesel engines are also available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .

The ice-reinforced hulls were assembled in a sectional construction. The ships have a bow with a bulbous bow that falls slightly above the waterline .

The units of the Schelde series are mainly used in small and medium-sized journeys in the transport of bulk goods, piece goods, smaller project loads or containers , but are approved for worldwide travel.
