Slovnaft as is a joint stock company that operates the largest oil refinery in Slovakia . In addition, Slovnaft operates plants for the production of plastics and maintains a network of filling stations in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland .

history

Slovnaft was founded in 1949 as the successor to the Apollo refinery that was nationalized in 1946 . Today Slovnaft belongs to the MOL group, which owns 98.4% of the shares.

The refinery is located in the southeast of the city of Bratislava, in Okres Bratislava II . The refinery was built in the 1960s and has an area of ​​2.5 km by 2.3 km. It is located east of the Danube floodplain, south of the Ružinov district and the Little Danube, and west of Podunajské Biskupice . The refinery has traffic connections to the Slovak rail network at the Bratislava central freight station ( Bratislava – Hegyeshalom railway line ), to the D1 motorway and to the Bratislava Danube port .
