sms.at is an Austrian online community and mobile entertainment platform. It had 4.8 million registered users in October 2009. According to a survey, 25% of Austrians use them regularly, making it the second most frequently used social network after Facebook .
history
The website was developed in 1999 by Jürgen and Martin Pansy from Graz , and in the early years it attracted attention primarily with the ability to send unlimited free text messages via your profile . In 2007 it was taken over by the Italian media group Buongiorno , which specializes in mobile entertainment , and Martin Pansy has been managing director since then. In 2013 the company employed 35 people at three locations (Graz, Vienna , Buchs SG ). In 2017 sms.at was sold for a double-digit million amount to the atms group of the two Austrian entrepreneurs Stefan Kalteis (including payolution, formerly an investor in Runtastic) and Christian Bamberger (co-founder of PAY.ON).
