The Snake River is a right tributary of the Peel River in the Yukon Territory in Canada .

The Snake River rises south of Mount MacDonald . It flows in a predominantly northerly direction not far from the border with the Northwest Territories . It separates the Bonnet Plume Mountains in the west from the Backbone and Canyon Ranges , which are part of the Mackenzie Mountains , in the east. Eventually the Snake River reaches the Peel Plateau and flows into the Peel River after about 270 km. The river can be explored on a two-week canoe tour. The rapids on the Snake River have the difficulty level II. Its catchment area covers 9167 km². The mean discharge is 100 m³ / s.
