Sniper Elite is a tactical shooter computer game series that is being developed by the English developer studio Rebellion Developments and is currently published by 505 Games . As a shooter, the series relies on distanced stealth elements and shots with the sniper rifle from a distance. The first part was published on October 18, 2005. The plot of the series takes place in World War II and revolves around several fictional characters at that time.

Gameplay

Sniper Elite is a third-person shooter series with stealth and first-person shooter game elements. Many of the single player levels allow you to avoid close combat and instead play with the sniper rifle in ranged combat. However, other weapons, tools such as binoculars and booby traps can also be used in the game. The body posture of the character and the weather conditions as well as game physics also have an effect on the accuracy of the shot. Over the course of the series, these things have been reworked and more shooting options have been added.

Books

Rebellion Developments and Abaddon Books released a game-inspired novel called Sniper Elite: The Spear of Fate , written by Jasper Bark. In this book, Karl Fairburne has the task of preventing SS General Helmstadt from selling a working atom bomb to the Soviets.

A short story by Scott K. Andrews entitled Sniper Elite V2 - Target Hitler has also been published as an e-book .

reception

The series received mostly positive to moderate reviews, praising the feel of the shot and the stealth elements in the game. In total, more than 10 million games from the Sniper Elite series have been sold.
