Sniper Elite 4

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sniper Elite 4 is a third-person, stealth, tactical shooter video game that is developed and published by Rebellion Developments. The sequel to Sniper Elite III was released on February 14, 2017 for Microsoft Windows , PlayStation 4 and Xbox One .

Gameplay

Sniper Elite 4 is a tactical shooter with stealth elements that is played from a third-person perspective . When the player kills an enemy with a sniper rifle from a long distance, the X-Ray Kill Cam system is activated, in which the camera of the game follows the bullet from the sniper rifle to the target and shows how body parts, bones or internal body organs through the ball will be broken or torn apart. The system has also been expanded to include splinter, melee and stealth kills.

The game's artificial intelligence has been enhanced so that the opponents can be more responsive to the player's actions. When an enemy is killed, other enemies actively begin looking for him. The player is equipped with binoculars that show him where the enemies are and what weapons they are carrying, as well as the ability to mark enemies and objects. In the game there is the rank "officers". Killing the officer as early as possible will cause his army to retreat, while killing the officer at the end of a mission significantly increases the difficulty. The player can set traps and use corpses as booby traps . The game also features night missions where the player can remove light sources to hide their presence.

The maps in the game are significantly larger than those in Sniper Elite III , giving players more freedom and open gameplay. The maps also have more verticality. The game's new movement system allows Fairburne to climb and reach for ledges. Cooperative missions and competitive multiplayer modes are reintroduced.

action

Sniper Elite 4 is set in Italy in 1943 , immediately after the events of Sniper Elite III . After learning of rumors of a new Nazi weapon, the Royal Navy sends a freighter, the Orchidea, to the island of San Celini for investigation. The ship is quickly sunk by the new weapon - a radio-controlled anti - ship missile developed by the scientist Andreas Kessler and Heinz Böhm, a high-ranking Nazi general about whom the Allies have little information. The SOE sniper Karl Fairburne (Tom Clarke-Hill) is sent to the island after the sinking and charged with murdering General Tobias Schmidt and several other officers who monitored the attack and filming it for propaganda purposes. After Schmidt is eliminated, OSS agent Jack Weaver sends Fairburne to the village of Bitanti to find Sofia "Angel" Di Rocco, the leader of the local partisan resistance group. Suspicious of the OSS, which allowed her father to be kidnapped by the Nazis, Angel assigns Fairburne to destroy a railway gun at the Regelino Viaduct to prove themselves and convince the group to band together. After the viaduct is blown up and the guns destroyed, Fairburne is sent to investigate a shipyard from which the Nazis are shipping the weaponry and to arrange for a bombing raid to destroy the facility.

When Fairburne learned that the Sicilian Mafia was disrupting operations at the shipyard to slow down the shipment of the gun parts, he met with Kingpin Salavatore Dinelli, who agreed to provide additional help after meeting Piero Capo, the local leader Black Brigade , had eliminated. The partisans distrust the intentions of the mafia and are reluctant to maintain the alliance. However, when an SOE informant, Major Hans Dorfmann, announces that Kessler is in the Magazzeno facility where the missiles are assembled, Fairburne infiltrates the base to kidnap Kessler and steal his research notes. During interrogation, Kessler tells Angel that her father is still alive, which prompts the partisans to attack the town of Giovi Fiorini and to find Böhm's confidante, Major Klaus Rothbauer. Kessler then tells Fairburne that he is dying of liver cancer because of his heavy alcohol consumption and therefore of no use to the Nazis or the Allies, and that the information Angel was given was a lie to lure the partisans into a trap. Fairburne breaks out after Giovi Fiorini and eliminates Rothbauer, but the ensuing fight results in the partisans being massacred.

The information gathered enables the SOE to discover that Böhm is aware of Operation Avalanche and has the engineered missiles sent to his fortress in Allagra with the intention of both causing enough damage to the fleet to prevent the success of the invasion of Italy also to try to kill General Dwight Eisenhower . Fairburne infiltrates the base and deactivates each of the missiles. When he tries to initiate a bombing raid on the facility, Dorfmann appears with the caught fishing rod and identifies himself as Boehm. Boehm executes Angel and quickly makes his way to his plane, intending to take off and personally carry out the attack on Eisenhower's ship. Fairburne chases after and manages to shut down the plane's engines before it can take off, destroying the plane and killing Boehm just as the Allied Lancaster bombers arrive to destroy the base. In the epilogue scene, Jack offers Karl a job at the OSS and Karl says he will think about it.

development

Sniper Elite 4 was developed by Rebellion Developments. According to Tim Jones, Head of Creative at Rebellion, the game was designed as a "sniper's paradise". As a result, the team expanded the size and scale of the game's maps and levels to allow for "real long shots". The game's animation system, artificial intelligence and rendering technology have also been redesigned.

505 Games , the publisher of the previous two games, is not involved in the production of the game, and Sniper Elite 4 is digitally published by Rebellion itself. Instead, Rebellion partnered with Sold Out and U&I Entertainment, the publishers and distributors of the Zombie Army Trilogy , to make physical copies of the game. In February 2016, a Chinese digital art company accidentally revealed the game. Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion, did not confirm the existence of the game, adding that there were plans to bring a new game out very soon. Sniper Elite 4 was announced on March 7, 2016.

On June 13, 2016, at E3 2016, it was announced that Sniper Elite 4 would be released on February 14, 2017.
