SoIK Hellas

SoIK Hellas (Sim- och Idrottsklubben Hellas, German: Swimming and Sports Club Hellas) is a Swedish sports club from Nacka near Stockholm .

The association was founded on May 14, 1899 by Pastor Ernst Klefbeck as Pastorns Gossar (PG) for his male confirmands. In 1908 the club was registered with the Riksidrottsförbundet , the Swedish sports association, under the name PG Sim och Idrottsklubb (German: swimming and sports club). In 1912 the name was changed to Sim- och Idrottsklubben Hellas.

The club has already won the Swedish championship in all of the sports offered ( bowling , athletics , handball , orienteering , swimming and tennis ).

The men's handball team plays in the 2009/2010 season in Division 2 Södra, the fourth-highest Swedish division. In her prime she won seven championship titles (1936, 1937, 1969–1972 and 1977).

Well-known athletes include Sven Bergqvist (handball) and Arne Andersson (athletics).

Orienteering

The club's men's relay won the first Tiomila event in 1945 . Another triumph followed in this competition in 1952. In 2007, the women's relay won the Tiomila with Larissa Stantschenko , Capucine Vercelotti , Kristina Rybakovaite , Irina Petrowa and Tatjana Rjabkina . The 2014 long distance world champion, Swetlana Mironowa from Russia, also runs for Hellas.
