Sylvester draws the short straw (original title: Tweetie Pie ; alternative title: Such a sweet birdie ) is an American animated short film by Friz Freleng from 1947.

action

The cat Sylvester , here called Thomas, chases the bird Tweety in the snow. Sylvester's mistress rescues Tweety from the cat's paws - Tweety is now accommodated in a bird cage that hangs from the ceiling.

Sylvester tries in vain to get to the bird cage. He stacks pieces of furniture on top of one another, but Tweety saws them off. The bird destroys metal furniture with a welding torch , cuts the power supply when Sylvester comes flying to the cage with a propeller and shouts loudly for help when the cat tries to get to the cage with a fishing rod. Each time Sylvester's mistress appears, beats the cat with a broom and finally locks him out.

Two further attempts to catch birds fail: Sylvester is singed when he tries to get back into the house via the chimney and a complicated construction, in which Tweety is supposed to be hit by a cannonball at the end, turns against him. Finally Sylvester tries to saw the cage holder and cage out of the ceiling. Instead, the entire ceiling falls to the floor and Sylvester, who fears further blows from his mistress, destroys the broom. Now Tweety beats him - with an iron shovel.
