Friz Freleng

Isadore "Friz" Freleng (born August 21, 1906 in Kansas City , † May 26, 1995 in Los Angeles ) was an American cartoonist and film producer. He was nominated five times for an Oscar and won four times, including 1958 with Knighty Knight Bugs , a Bugs Bunny cartoon , and 1964 with Der rosarote Schmierfink , a Pink Panther cartoon .

Freleng was best known for his work on Looney Tunes , a Warner Bros. series. He introduced cartoon stars like Piggy Dick , Tweety Bird and Speedy Gonzales . As the senior director of Warner's Termite Terrace studio , he was also one of the most honored directors. In total, Freleng made over 300 short films.

After Warners closed the animation studio in 1963, Freleng and his business partner David H. DePatie founded DePatie-Freleng Enterprises , which produced film scores and cartoons, including Pink Panther .

Freleng's burial site is in the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City , Los Angeles County , California .
