Spie Batignolles is a French construction company. The company has its origins in the construction company Ernest Goüin et Cie , which was founded by Ernest Goüin in Batignolles in 1846 . This company was renamed Société de Construction des Batignolles (SCB) in 1872 . In 1968 there was a merger between SCB and the industrial service provider SPIE , resulting in the merged company Spie Batignolles . After the takeover of the Schneider group by the new main shareholder of Spie Batignolles, Édouard-Jean Empain , the companies were combined in the Empain-Schneider group. After all of the Empain family's shares were sold to Paribas-Bank in 1981, the name was shortened to “Schneider”, but Spie Batignolles remained a subsidiary of the group. This part of the group was spun off in 1997. Spies' new independence ended in 2003 due to a takeover by the plant manufacturer Amec , but the business with conventional construction activities was bought out by senior executives and continued as Spie Batignolles. The holding company Ardian holds 16.74% of the shares.
