STIB / MIVB ticket

The Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles (French, STIB ) or Maatschappij voor het Intercommunaal Vervoer te Brussel (Dutch, MIVB ), society for inter-community traffic in Brussels , is the transport company of the 19 municipalities in the Brussels-Capital Region .

The STIB / MIVB was founded in 1954 and operates as a municipal public transport provider which has opened in 1976 subway of Brussels Metro , the tram Brussels as well as the inner-city buses . The overall network consists of four underground lines with a length of 39 kilometers, 18 tram lines with 128.3 km line length and 47 bus lines with 348.8 km line length in an area of ​​the capital region of 161 km².

Tram museum

In the oldest part of the tram depot in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre , there has been a tram museum since 1977 on the initiative of the then President of the STIB, Guy Cudell. This has been operated by the Musée du Transport Urbain Bruxellois association since 1982 , while the building and most of the wagons continue to belong to the STIB. A complete renovation took place between 2006 and 2010.
