The Sociedade de Distribuição de Bebidas de Angola, Limitada (SODIBA for short) with headquarters in Luanda and production in Bom Jesus is an Angolan beverage manufacturer. The owners are Isabel dos Santos and her husband Sindika Dokolo .

Company history

The company was founded in October 2013 with the aim of becoming “the largest and best beverage manufacturer and distributor in the country.” Construction of the beverage factory began at the end of 2014 in the Bom Jesus industrial site on the Kwanza River, 60 km from Luanda . The plant opened in early 2017 and has a capacity of 1.4 million hectoliters per year. The total investment was 150 million US dollars. Around a third of this was a loan from the German KfW IPEX-Bank to the state-owned Banco de Poupança e Crédito (BPC), with which dos Santos acquired a brewery and two bottling plants from Krones AG . According to the investigative Angolan website “Makaangola.org”, dos Santos did not repay this loan within the contractually agreed period of six months.

The main product is beer. In addition to beers that are produced under license with the Heineken Group and the Portuguese beer manufacturer Sagres , beer of its own Luandina brand is also produced. The first product launched in January 2017 was “Sagres Preto”, followed by “Luandina” in November 2017, which has also been produced as a draft beer since the end of 2018 , and “Sagres Bohemia” in May 2019. The factory has two Filling lines with a capacity of 50,000 bottles per hour and another line for cans with the same capacity.

In October 2019, the company held the first Oktoberfest in Angola under the Luandina brand . It took place in a large shopping center in Luanda.

In December 2019, Isabel dos Santos and Sindika Dokolo's accounts were frozen by the Luanda Provincial Court on suspicion of corruption. The Sodiba company was also affected.
