The Società Numismatica Italiana is a non-profit numismatic association based in Milan , Italy .

The "Italian Numismatic Society" disseminates knowledge about numismatics, among other things through its specialist journal Rivista Italiana di Numismatica and through the publication of the Collana di Numismatica . The society initiates and coordinates numismatic conferences and exhibitions. It has a coin cabinet and a specialist library .

history

The editors of the Rivista Italiana di Numismatica , founded in 1888, suggested the establishment of the Società Numismatica Italiana , which took place in 1892. Among the founding members was the future King of Italy, Victor Emanuel III. , a recognized numismatist who also became a member of the Royal Numismatic Society . Victor Emmanuel III provided the society in Milan with part of the income from his multi-volume work Corpus Nummorum Italicorum . He was honorary chairman of the company.
