Sofie Charlotte Ackermann , née Sofie Charlotte Tschorn ( 1760 in Celle - July 5, 1815 in Weimar ) was a German theater actress .

Life

Ackermann, who was not related to the actor family known in the 18th century, entered the stage for the first time in 1779 and married the actor Gottfried Ackermann a year later . In 1780 she found a job with the Bellomoschen Gesellschaft and came to Weimar with the same in 1783 . There she made her debut on January 1, 1784 in the title role of the tragedy "Marianne" by Gotter . She was valued by the art-loving court as well as by Goethe and Wieland , and when she appeared as "Linna von Walla" on March 7, 1786, she was even praised by Goethe's brother-in-law Vulpius . The reviews at the time called their game “gorgeous”. Their fashionable taste was also mentioned. In 1791 she left Weimar with her children and her husband, who had fallen out of favor with court and theater management due to his careless way of life and had been dismissed. One really wanted to keep her because she was threatened in her civil and artistic existence by “this person”, but she still stood by her husband. She now moved from stage to stage and tried again and again to return to Weimar. This was only granted to her in 1803. From October 3rd to 15th, 1803 she was a guest in Weimar as "Eulalia" in hatred and remorse as "Baroness" in the blasphemy school and as "Clara von Hohenreichen", but she was not permanently engaged. Seven more restless years followed before she arrived again in Weimar, almost begging. In the meantime she had lost her two daughters and sons. She turned to Duke Karl August with the request for help, whom she was so touched by her fate that he now got her an engagement again. On April 24, 1811, she made her debut as "Frau von Wiesen" in "Reue und Ersatz". Broken by the decade-long disregard of her husband and the wandering, she fell ill and was paralyzed. She died on July 6, 1815.
