Sofie Röhr-Brajnin

Sofie Röhr-Brajnin , also Sophie Röhr-Brajnin , was born in Zofia Brainin ( January 2, 1861 in Bielostok , Kingdom of Poland - January 5, 1937 in Munich , German Empire ), was a Polish-German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

After training with F. Koziorowski in Warsaw and Mathilde Marchesi in Vienna, she made her debut at the Warsaw Opera as "Aida". From 1883 to 1885 she went to Italy to sing in Messina, Livorno, Milan and Rome. In 1885 she celebrated a sensational success in Warsaw as " Norma " by Bellini. She went to Paris for further training by Pauline Viardot-Garcia . Then she sang in the summer of 1887 at the Kroll Opera and in 1887/88 at the Court Opera in Berlin. Via Königsberg and Nuremberg she came to Breslau in 1891/92, where she married the conductor Hugo Röhr . For the season 1892/93 she worked at the Opera House in Düsseldorf. After that she did not take on a permanent engagement, but went to Mannheim to her husband in 1894, where she worked as a concert singer and singing teacher (including Berta Morena). In 1896 she accompanied her husband, who was appointed royal court conductor to Munich. There she appeared at the Court Opera in 1898/99 . She performed as a song and oratorio singer in many German cities for several years and became an important and sought-after singing teacher.

One of her students was the soprano Claire Gerhardt-Schultheß (1887–1968).
