Sophie Shevardnadze ( Georgian სოფო შევარდნაძე ; Russian София Паатовна Шеварднадзе ; born September 23, 1978 in Tbilisi as Sofija Paatovna Shevardnadze ) is a correspondent and presenter of the Russian TV station RT and the radio station Echo Moskwy .

Life

Sophie Shevardnadze is the granddaughter of the former Soviet Foreign Minister and later Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze and was born in the Georgian SSR . As a child, she first took ballet lessons , later learning the piano at her parents' insistence . When she was ten years old, the family moved to France , where she graduated from the Paris Conservatory with a diploma.

Professional career

After studying film and journalism in Boston in 2001 and New York in 2005, she worked as a producer for ABC before returning to Georgia to work for a television station. When the English-language Russian television channel Russia Today started in 2005 , Shevardnadze moved to the Russian capital and has been working as a presenter since the beginning. She also works for the Echo Moskwy radio station .

She speaks Georgian , Russian , English , French and Italian .
