Sofron Dmyterko

Sofron Dmyterko OSBM (born June 1, 1917 in Bychkivtsi , Austria-Hungary , today Ternopil Oblast , Ukraine ; † November 5, 2008 ) was Bishop of the Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine.

Life

Sofron Dmyterko joined the Order of the Basilians of St. Josaphat , made his profession in 1937 and was ordained a priest on May 14, 1942. In 1968 he was secretly appointed bishop and auxiliary bishop in Ivano-Frankivsk . The episcopal ordination donated him on November 30, 1968 Bishop Ivan Slesjuk . In 1991 he was appointed bishop of the Ivano-Frankivsk eparchy. His resignation at the age of 81 was granted by Pope John Paul II .
