Soghomon Tehlirian (also spelled Soromon Tehlerjan , Armenian Սողոմոն Թեհլերեան ; * April 2, 1897 in Pakaritsch near Erzincan ; † May 23, 1960 in San Francisco ) was an Armenian who was mainly affected by his assassination attempt on the former Turkish interior minister Talât Pasha became known.

Tehlirian had lost his family of 85 people in the genocide of the Armenians during the First World War . On March 15, 1921, on Hardenbergstrasse in Berlin-Charlottenburg , he shot and killed the former Ottoman Minister of the Interior, Talât Pascha, who is considered to be one of the main people responsible for the Armenian genocide and was therefore sentenced to death in absentia. To avoid extradition to the Allies as a war criminal, Tâlat Pascha fled to Berlin after the war with German help. In the following process in Berlin spoke jury Tehlirian as "not guilty" freely . The medical expert was the neurologist and psychiatrist Richard Cassirer . Tehlirian acted on behalf of the secret Armenian command Operation Nemesis , which persecuted and killed the perpetrators of the genocide of the Armenians in the form of vigilante justice, since Germany refused to extradite the convicted war criminals of the Young Turkish triumvirate .

In the 1950s Tehlirian emigrated to the USA. Tehlirian died of a brain hemorrhage in San Francisco in 1960. He is buried in the Ararat Cemetery in Fresno (California).
