The solar power industry Region Trier (short: Solar power plant IRT , even solar power plant pines called) is a photovoltaic - power plant , in 2008 on a compensation area for the Trier Region Industrial Park with pine trees was built and connected to the public grid in December of the same year. It was built by Conergy , is operated by the Trier municipal utilities and has a nominal output of 8.4 MWp , which enables around 2,400 households to be supplied with electricity. The solar park, officially inaugurated on May 8, 2009, consists of 112,959 thin-film solar modules connected to five inverter stations . In total, it extends over an area of approximately 25 hectares .
