The Jonava Military Cemetery ( lit.Jonavos karių kapinės ) is a Soviet military cemetery in downtown Jonavas in Lithuania , on Jonas Basanavičius Street in the eastern part of the city, at the intersection of Ateities and Lietavos streets , on the Jonava railway viaduct .

Graves

Buried here are 1524 soldiers of the Red Army , including 782 not known by name , who died at Jonava train station in Upninkai , Salininkai , Rukla , Upninkėliai . The cemetery is 50 × 45 meters.

During the Soviet occupation, a solemn ceremony was held every year in the cemetery in honor of the soldiers with a gun salute. After Lithuania's independence, the soldiers will only be honored by family members, acquaintances and representatives of the Russian embassy in Lithuania. In 2004 the cemetery was restored with funds from Russia.
