Soleb is an archaeological site in Nubia , today's Sudan . The place is about 500 kilometers south of Aswan between the second and third Nile cataracts on the west side of the river.
The place has a great temple of sandstone , which under Amenhotep III. has been erected. It is the most southerly known temple of this king to date. It was dedicated to the god Amun-Re and the ruler himself. The architect was Amenhotep, son of Hapu .

In the town there were also extensive necropolises of this time with small burial chapels, which were decorated with pyramids . The graves date mainly to the 18th dynasty . A few finds come from the Ramessid and Meroitic times.
