Soledad O'Brien (born September 19, 1966 in St. James , New York ) is an American journalist . From January 2012 to February 2013 she hosted the CNN morning program Starting Point . She previously hosted American Morning with unrelated Miles O'Brien from 2003 to 2007 .

In the 2016 comic film adaptation of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by Zack Snyder , she has a cameo in which she plays herself.

Prizes and awards

For the Discovery Channel telecast The Know Zone , she won an Emmy .
In 2007 she received the President's Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People .
The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University presented her with the 2008 Goodermote Humanitarian Award.
In 2006 it was part of Newsweek's cover story "15 People Who Make America Great".
The Morehouse School of Medicine has presented the Soledad O'Brien Freedom's Voice Award since 2008 .
