The Solothurnische Leimental is the part of the Northwestern Switzerland and in Alsace located Leimen valley , which the Canton Solothurn belongs. It consists of the communities Hofstetten-Flüh , Witterswil , Bättwil , Rodersdorf and Metzerlen-Mariastein . Together they form an exclave of the Solothurn district of Dorneck , which is surrounded by France and the canton of Baselland . As part of the Dorneck, the Solothurnian Leimental belongs to the Schwarzbubenland .

history

In the 13th century the territory was located in this area lords of Rotberg , while the south to and through the ridge of Blauens separated Laufental the Bishopric of Basel was one, the northwest location Sundgau to county Pfirt , later leading Austria . By purchase, the Rotberg rule came to the canton of Solothurn in 1515. The last change in the boundary conditions happened in 1994 when the Laufental joined the Canton of Baselland.
