Solozuviert ( spelling : SOLOzuVIERT ) is an Austrian band from Styria .

Before founding SOLOzuVIERT in 2009, Chris Watzik, Horst Klimstein, Uwe Hölzl and Benji Hassler worked as singers and songwriters in various bands and as solo artists. The music in Austrian dialect, mainly performed with acoustic guitars and polyphonic singing, is assigned to the genre of Austropop . SOLOzuVIERT call themselves a singer-songwriter band.

history

The four members met for the first time in January 2009 to organize a few evenings together, but still as individual performers. The subtitle of the program, "Solo for four", was retained as the band name. At the end of 2009, the four musicians played their first concert as a quartet under the name "SOLOzuVIERT" at the TPA Kronecenter in Graz. From now on, the members only appeared together. In October of the following year the band released their first album entitled SOLOzuVIERT - Reserviert . Numerous concerts followed, which in 2012 led to the next important step in the band's development, the recording of the live album Reserviert - Live 11/12 . In spring 2012 SOLOzuVIERT had the opportunity to record their live program in the ORF regional studio Steiermark in front of an audience, with Peter Karner on guitar and Harry Pekar on keyboard as reinforcement, and presented these recordings on CD in June 2012 at the Graz City Festival.

Another career step was imminent there. The music manager Karl Scheibmaier, discoverer of Austrian musicians and bands like STS , Ludwig Hirsch and Rainhard Fendrich , saw the performance of the four and signed the band.

In autumn 2012, SOLOzuVIERT went on an Austrian tour with Rainhard Fendrich, the EAV and the Seern in the largest halls in the country ( Wiener Stadthalle , Salzburgarena , Olympiahalle Innsbruck , Stadthalle Graz etc.). Since these concerts, the pianist Alexander Meister has been an integral part of live concerts and studio recordings.

In the spring of 2013 the band started the “Grüß Sie Gott, Austropop” tour, which led through all of Austria and for the first time to Bavaria.

In summer 2013 the band signed a record deal with Sony Music Austria / Ariola and in spring 2014 released the album 4 Immer on the new label. The singles 4 Immer , Der schönste Sommer and Sinn immediately made it into the top three of the Austrian airplay charts, with Der schönste Sommer reaching number 1 for 2 weeks. The “4 Immer Tour” that followed lasted a whole year and led through Austria and Germany.

In November 2014, the band released the single It's Christmas Time , which also reached number one on the airplay charts.

In 2014 there was another tour through Austria (extra tour), several open-air festivals as well as some appearances in television programs of ORF, Bavarian radio and many regional broadcasters.

In 2015 the band performed at numerous open-air concerts in Germany and Austria and, as the crowning glory, was invited to the largest German-language songwriter festival “ Songs on a Summer Evening ” in Bad Staffelstein for the first time . The following year they took part in the festival 's 30th anniversary .

In October 2015 the fourth CD with the title Guate Zeit was released. The singles Nur mit Dir, Guate old days, Neighbors and That can believe me made it back into the top 10 of the airplay charts for several weeks and the videos from SOLOzuVIERT were clicked more than 500,000 times on Youtube. The song Sometime reached 211,000 clicks so far.

The most extensive concert tour to date followed from October 2015 to June 2016. Among other things, the band played their biggest single concert to date in front of a sold out house in June 2016 on the Schloßbergbühne Kasematten in Graz. Other festivals followed, the second appearance on "Songs on a Summer Evening" and the appearance on the main stage of the Vienna Danube Island Festival .
