Cinderella had recorded two demos in 1984 and 1985 and thus caught the attention of Jon Bon Jovi , who got them a recording contract with the help of Derek Shulman ( A&R manager at Mercury Records ). The band's original drummer, Jim Drnc, was replaced by Jody Cortez while recording, with Andy Johns producing the debut album. Singer and guitarist Tom Keifer wrote all the songs on the record.
