description

Straloch House is isolated around 2.5 km northwest of Newmachar off the A947 . The manor house, built in 1780, was first owned by the Gordon clan and then passed to the Ramsay clan .

The facades of the two-story, classical- style mansion are plastered with Harl . Its main facade, which is exposed to the south-east, is five axes wide. The slightly protruding central protrusion closes with a triangular gable . Back wings go off on both sides.

External structures

To the north of the mansion are the gardens, which were laid out in the late 18th century. They are enclosed by a 4.6 meter high quarry stone wall and protected as a Category C monument.

The manor was built in the late 18th or early 19th century. The Category C building is equipped with a central, segment-arched doorway. The small windows on the upper floor are let directly below the eaves of the concluding hip roof. Some are still the original six or twelve-part lattice windows . The modern extensions are exempt from monument protection.

The lodge flanks an access road on the A947. The small, one-story building from the early 19th century is designed in the Tudor style. The Category B building closes with a slate roof.
