The A947 road is a so-called A road in the Scottish Council Areas Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire .
course
The road branches off from the A90 (Aberdeen– Inverness ) in the western Bucksburn district of Aberdeen . After two kilometers, it reaches the town of Dyce and connects the Aberdeen International Airport located there to the road network. It crosses the Don just north of Dyce and reaches Aberdeenshire. Extend further to the north, the A947 reached after ten kilometers, the village of Newmachar , where it forms the main road. Beyond Newmachar, the course turns increasingly to the northwest.
Directly east of Oldmeldrum , the A947 runs for a few hundred meters together with the A920 ( Ellon - Dufftown ). Continuing through the sparsely populated hinterland of Aberdeenshire, the road passes the village of Fyvie and Fyvie Castle on the opposite bank of the Ythan . It leads through the small town of Turriff and finally ends after a total length of 66 km on the A98 on the western edge of the city of Macduff directly at the Bridge of Banff .
