Oldmeldrum , usually just called Meldrum , is a village in the Scottish council area of Aberdeenshire . It is located about 20 km northwest of Aberdeen and 30 km south-southeast of Banff . Between 1911 and 1951 the population remained constant at just over 1100. In 2011, Oldmeldrum had 3212 inhabitants, which means that the number of inhabitants has almost doubled within 50 years. The whiskey distillery Glen Garioch has been located in Oldmeldrum since 1825 .

The connecting road from Aberdeen to Banff runs directly through Oldmeldrum. The A96 , which runs from Aberdeen to Inverness , runs about seven kilometers southwest through Inverurie . A station served by the Great North of Scotland Railway was closed in the 1960s.

The Kirkton of Bourtie is a stone circle in a field near Oldmeldrum.
