Sonambiente is an art festival in Berlin that has been held in 1996 and 2006.

Festivals

The Sonambiente festival took place for the first time in 1996 as part of the 300th anniversary of the Academy of Arts and provided the first international overview of sound art . It was considered part of a young interdisciplinary aesthetic movement of the time. In the four-week festival period, around 50,000 visitors at more than 20 locations in Berlin's Neuer Mitte experienced sound art projects by more than 100 participating artists.

Sonambiente berlin 2006 was announced as a festival for hearing and seeing. The festival presented visual arts , sound art, video art , performance , new media and film . From June 1 to July 16, 2006, over 55 international and 20 young artists from universities exhibited their works in more than 20 locations in the center of Berlin .

Event locations 2006

The venues of the exhibition course did not only take place in established locations, such as the two houses of the then Academy of the Arts , the Klosterstrasse district and the Haus der Berliner Festspiele . New rooms were included, such as the former Polish Embassy on Unter den Linden 70-72, the Allianz building on Joachimsthaler Straße and at the Ostbahnhof and the old pumping station on Holzmarktstraße.

Organizer and cooperation partner 2006

The 2006 Sonambiente Festival was organized by the Akademie der Künste and the Berliner Festspiele. Cooperation partners were: University of Applied Arts Vienna , University of Applied Arts Saar , The School of the Art Institute of Chicago , University of Music Franz Liszt and Bauhaus University Weimar , University of Fine Arts Braunschweig , University of the Arts Bern and the University of the Arts Berlin .
