Sonapur is a village and a Village Development Committee (VDC) in southwestern Nepal .

Sonapur is located in the southern Banke District in Province No. 5 .

Sonapur had 7,107 inhabitants in 2001, of which 52.3% men and 47.7% women. At the 2011 census, the VDC Sonapur had 8156 inhabitants (4004 of them male) in 1412 households.
