Sonar Entertainment is an American film and television production company based in New York City .
history
In 1979 Robert Halmi senior founded the company Robert-Halmi-Entertainment . In 1988 it was taken over by Hal Roach Studios; two years later it was renamed RHI Entertainment . In 1994 Halmi sold the company to the Hallmark group, which renamed the studio Hallmark Entertainment . In 2006 Halmi acquired the studio back and renamed it RHI Entertainment . In 2012, the company was renamed Sonar Entertainment after Robert Halmi senior withdrew from the company.
