The 10th Kingdom (sometimes based on the original title The 10th Kingdom ) is a five-part fantasy miniseries from 2000. The main roles are Kimberly Williams-Paisley , Scott Cohen and Dianne Wiest . a. occupied by Ed O'Neill and Rutger Hauer .
The first German-language broadcast of the first part took place on December 23, 2001 on RTL . The other parts followed on December 25, 26 and 30, 2001, while the fifth and final part aired on January 1, 2002.

Part 1
Virginia lives with her father in a New York apartment building . She works as a waitress in a restaurant while her father is the caretaker of the apartment block. Virginia is currently on her way to work without realizing that there is another world besides hers in a parallel universe. This other world is made up of 9 kingdoms. In the 4th Kingdom, the Troll King Radish breaks into the "Snow White Memory Prison" together with his assistants in order to free the evil queen. Prince Wendell, the grandson of Snow White and thus the heir to the throne in the 4th Kingdom, wants to visit his stepmother, the Evil Queen, in prison. He falls into a trap and the evil queen transforms Prince Wendell into her golden retriever and her dog into the prince. Because she has very special plans. The wolf, a wolf in human form, who is also held captive, is supposed to help her in carrying out these plans. However, Prince Wendell manages to escape, the troll king's assistants and Wolf close on his heels. He discovers a magic mirror and jumps into it. He ends up in the middle of New York, namely in Central Park . However, he jumps right in front of Virginia's bike and both fall to the ground. The trolls have also arrived in New York and believe they have discovered the legendary 10th Kingdom and want to subjugate it, while Wolf also ends up in Central Park.
Virginia regains consciousness and feels sorry for the apparently stray dog and takes him to her work, where she locks him in a camp. The trolls have meanwhile discovered the wallet that Virginia lost in her fall and found out her address. Wolf, on the other hand, is hungry and ends up in the restaurant where Virginia works. As soon as he sees her, he falls in love with her. Virginia has completely different problems because the dog tore open a sack of flour in the camp and now the word "danger" is on the floor. Since only Virginia had a key to the camp, she is a little surprised and doesn't know what to think of the dog. He seems smarter than it seems, because he apparently understands every word Virginia says. So she realizes that she and the dog are threatened by an as yet unknown danger and decides to go home. Once there, she finds her neighbors unconscious in the hallway and her father's apartment is devastated, while he too sits motionless in an armchair. But she also hears voices and discovers the trolls. Prince Wendell senses the danger and hides in a niche. Virginia, however, is discovered by the trolls and asked about the dog. She uses a ruse and lures the trolls into the broken elevator, where she can lock them up. After she has convinced herself that her father is apparently only asleep, she and Prince Wendell flee to her grandmother.
Wolf has also found out the address of Virginia in the meantime and meets Virginia's father, who has just woken up again. He gives him a so-called wish bean and learns where Virginia could be. While he goes in search of her, Virginia's father gets to feel the first effects of the magic bean. The homeowner is very angry because Anthony Lewis has again not done his job and so he gives him notice of his apartment and job. Anthony wishes that he should "kiss his ass" and that his entire family should serve him as slaves . Before he knows it, that's exactly what happens. Unfortunately, the homeowner's family is much larger than he expected and soon his apartment is full of family members who want to serve him. However, there are also some criminal figures among them who have just robbed a bank and now end up with Anthony Lewis with their loot and the police on their heels. Anthony is mistaken for a gang leader and arrested by the police.
Virginia is not doing much better in the meantime either, because Wolf found her at her grandmother's. Since he's now quite hungry, he first prepares Virginia's grandmother for the oven. Virginia and Wendell run into Wolf and flee again. During this escape, they come across the police car with the arrested Anthony. Virginia manages to free him and tell him the story of the strange dog. He remembers the wish bean and wishes he could understand the dog's language, which happens promptly. This is how they find out that they are in danger and start looking for the gate through the magic mirror. Just as the police have surrounded them, the three jump through the mirror and end up where Wendell came from: In the Snow White Memorial Prison.
The three trolls and wolf are also making their way back to the 4th Kingdom. In the meantime, the evil queen has promised the troll king half of the kingdom if he helps her. The trolls discover and capture Virginia, while Prince Wendell and Anthony are arrested in jail. While Anthony has to share a cell with the dwarf Eichel and the troll Slime Face, the dog is to be given poisoned food at the queen's command. The trolls have brought Virginia to her home and Radich wants to make Virginia dance in red-hot iron shoes to find out where the dog is.
The Evil Queen lets her dog in Wendell's shape in on her plan: She wants to have the false Wendell crowned king and thereby permanently wipe out the family of Snow White.
Part 2
The evil queen arrives at the mighty five magical mirrors of Snow White's stepmother. One for traveling, one for forgetting, one for remembering and one for exploring. She becomes the most powerful woman in the kingdom.
Shortly before Virginia is supposed to get her glowing shoes on, a present flies through the window. The three trolls argue about who can keep the present and put each other out of action. As Virginia finds out, this gift came from Wolf. He frees Virginia and together they flee. On the way to the prison they make their way through the dark beanstalk forest. Virginia doesn't trust the wolf and so she makes herself invisible because she stole the magic shoes that make you invisible from the troll king. But Wolf can still discover them by sniffing them out, especially since the shoes only make them invisible for a limited time. The trolls are still on their heels. And so Virginia and Wolf hide on one of the giant beansticks.
In the meantime, some of the prisoners, including Anthony, had to clear out the prison cellar. The mirror is also under the bulky waste . But Anthony finds that it doesn't work.
Virginia and Wolf managed to escape the trolls again and set out to find Anthony and Prince Wendell. With the help of the magic shoes they can free Wendell. Tony's cell is empty, however. He fled through a secret tunnel with the acorn and slime face. Virginia, Wolf and the Prince crawl down the corridor too. While Anthony is stuck in the tunnel, Schleimface sets off on his own. Eichel, on the other hand, discovers the boat with the bulky waste - and the mirror - and uses it to escape. Wolf, Virginia and Wendell meet Anthony in the tunnel and can get outside together. Anthony, Virginia, Wolf and Prince are discovered by the trolls. But you can fend them off and with a second boat they take up the pursuit of Eichel. On board the boat they discover a magic fish. In an unobserved moment, Anthony puts his finger in the fish's mouth and can now use his finger to turn everything he touches into gold .
The Queen orders the Troll King to return to his palace while his three sons are to catch Wendell. The Troll King, however, wants more power and without further ado declares war on the 4th Kingdom and demands that Prince Wendell should face himself within seven days. The queen, on the other hand, contacts Wolf via a mirror.
They discover Eichel with his boat, but at the same time Prince Wendell sees the ruins in which the evil queen is and feels drawn to the walls. He jumps into the river and swims towards the castle ruins . Virginia, Anthony and Wolf, however, go ashore. Zwerg Eichel has now sold the bulky waste there.
The trolls have also reached the queen. She asks the trolls to finally find Prince Wendell. When Wendell tries to get help from Anthony, the trolls catch him. Anthony can defend himself against the trolls, but with an undesirable effect. He turns the trolls and Prince Wendell into gold.
To finally catch Wendell, the queen calls her loyal hunter to her home. His crossbow never misses its target. She orders him to finally find Prince Wendell.
Virginia, Anthony and Wolf were able to separate Prince Wendell from the trolls and now have to pull him after them. The group meets an old woman. She tells them that she saw dwarf acorn, but also that they should be pursued and killed. The hunter is actually already on their trail. You discover a gypsy camp in the forest . Virginia discovers some magic birds. A fortune teller lays the cards to Anthony and Virginia. Virginia learns that she has a great fate ahead of her and that she will achieve great things. Wolf is also questioned by the fortune teller and she tells him that he is not what he says he is, but a wolf. Wolf replies that her grandson is also a wolf and the fortune teller then invites her to spend the night in the camp. When they want to leave the camp the next morning, Virginia releases the magic birds. She is discovered and they have to flee from the gypsies. The gypsy queen puts a curse on Virginia, which makes her hair grow continuously. The hunter discovers the gypsies and kills them.
During a thunderstorm, Virginia, Anthony and Wolf discover an abandoned cabin. It turns out to be the hut of the seven dwarfs. Wolf tells them what happened to Snow White. She and four other women became the most powerful women in the kingdoms in the past: Rapunzel , Gretel , Little Red Riding Hood , Cinderella and Snow White. Only Cinderella is said to be still alive, but no one has seen her for many years. Overnight, Virginia's hair grew so much that it covered the floor of the whole cabin. One of the released magic birds knows a solution: he tells them about a lumberjack who can cut everything with his ax. While searching for the lumberjack, Wolf notices that the hunter is hot on their heels. He hides Virginia and Anthony in a pit and looks for the woodcutter on his own. The hunter actually doesn't seem to spot them, but when Virginia sneezes, he spots them. The hunter can take Virginia under his control. He takes her to a secret hiding place, which is in the trunk of an old tree.
part 3
Anthony and Wolf find the woodcutter. You must find out that he is blind . He only wants to give them his magic ax if they guess his name, on the other hand he wants to cut off Wolf's head. With the help of one of the magic birds, Anthony guesses the name and they get the ax.
In the meantime, the hunter wants to kill Virginia, but a messenger arrives at Prince Wendell's house. He leaves the hollow tree, leaving Virginia behind. It is chained to the trunk at a dizzy height. A magic bird also comes to Virginia to help and leads Anthony and Wolf to the tree. But they can't find the entrance and have to find another way to free Virginia. It occurs to them that Virginia should let her long hair down from the tree. She does this and wolf can get into the tree. Suddenly the hunter reappears and a fight ensues in the course of which he is overwhelmed, falls into a bear trap and passes out. Looking for the mirror, they meet Eichel in the forest, but he has exchanged the mirror in a village. Virginia, Anthony, and Wolf go to the village. There is currently a big party going on and they find out that the village judge has earmarked the mirror as the prize for the shepherdess competition that will take place the next day .
Wolf, on the other hand, also has problems, because the coming night is full moon and so his "animal" side comes through more and more. He becomes very aggressive and almost unpredictable. However, there is also a secret in the village, as the Peep family secretly diverted the water from the wishing well years ago and since then they have won every competition. Sally is supposed to win the shepherdess competition and her sheep is dipped into the secret well. Anthony can observe this and so he decides that Virginia should also take part in the competition so that they can get the mirror back.
Wolf is afraid of the night and asks Virginia to tie him up. The next morning there seems to have been a wolf in the village. The evil queen reconnects with Wolf and tells him to finally kill Virginia. While Virginia adds herself to the list of participants, Anthony dips the sheep for Virginia into the well. Virginia has to compete against two competitors. However, the sheep is colored pink after the bath. As part of the shepherdess competition, Virginia has to sing a shepherdess song. In her need she sings a special version of the song "We will Rock you".
After singing, Sally and Virginia are tied for the winners. In order to make a decision, they should drive their sheep into a gate over an obstacle course. Anthony also comes up with the idea of immersing Prince Wendell in the well to turn him back into a dog. At the right moment, Wendell comes to her aid and Virginia wins the competition.
The moment Virginia and Anthony were able to put the mirror into operation and want to return to New York, Wolf is arrested by the villagers because he is said to have murdered the shepherdess Sally.
The evil queen now has big problems with radish, he no longer wants to submit to her. Those in charge of the 4th Kingdom want to call the 1st and 9th Kingdom to help against the trolls, but this would mean that Prince Wendell could never become king.
While Wolf is being led to the stake , Virginia and Anthony think about how they can help Wolf. Virginia decides to represent Wolf as defense attorney. However, she finds that the jury is all sheep. While Virginia tries to defend Wolf, Anthony and Wendell set out to find the real killer after hiding the magic mirror on a wagon. Wolf is sentenced to death at the stake. Anthony comes in just in time. He can prove that the Peeps use the well for themselves and that their head of the family killed Sally after she destroyed the well. When Virginia and Anthony finally want to return to New York, they discover that the car with the hidden mirror is on the way to the neighboring village of "Kiss City". While they are looking for the mirror again, the water flows again in the previously dried out wishing well in the village.
"Kiss City" is reputed to be the most romantic city in the entire kingdom. They discover the car and find that the mirror has already been sold again.
In the meantime the hunter is back on her trail. In an antique shop, Anthony and Wendell discover the gold statue with the trolls. You discover the mirror, but the owner is sure that the mirror could be a piece from the early " Sleeping Beauty " era. The 5,000 gold Wendells he now wants for it are far more than Anthony, Virginia and Wolf can muster. And the hunter is already close by again.
Part 4
In order to get the 5,000 gold Wendell together for the Spiegel, Virginia, Anthony and Wolf decide to play with their few Wendells in the casino to win the money.
The evil queen has other problems in the meantime, because the wrong Wendell no longer wants to be human. But the queen prevails and so the wrong prince should now learn to ride. However, the horse goes through this. The traveling mirror calls the evil queen to itself. After crossing the mirror, she ends up in the crypt of Snow White's evil stepmother. This orders the evil queen to kill the troll king.
Wolf actually wins 10,000 gold Wendell at the " Hasenjackpot ", but he doesn't want the money at all because he fears that Virginia will then leave him forever. Virginia, on the other hand, seems to be drawn to Wolf more and more. Wolf receives the prize and hides the gold coins. Suddenly the queen makes contact with Wolf again. She is still amazed that she can only see Wolf and never his companions.
The hunter is also still on the heels of the small group around Virginia.
Anthony also seems to be on a winning streak in poker . Wolf, on the other hand, orders a menu with 13 main courses in an inn to propose marriage to Virginia.
The queen finds out where the wrong prince is. He's at an apple farm. She contacts the Troll King again via the mirror to meet with him there. If he did not obey her orders, she would kill his children.
Wolf is still busy preparing his engagement to Virginia and wants to buy an engagement ring. He acquires a "singing ring". He should have a lifelong love guarantee.
Anthony has meanwhile earned 4,000 Gold Wendell and is betting everything for one last game against the advice of Virginia. And he loses everything. But there is a little secret, because the dog was part of the profit and so they rush to the auction. You can bid 5,000 Gold Wendell just in time. But the hunter offers 10,000 gold Wendell and gets the bid and thus the mirror.
The queen meets the dog in the form of a prince and then the troll king. He thinks he has the queen trapped, but she was smarter and poisoned the apples in the apple orchard before.
Wolf invites Virginia to a romantic carriage ride. Anthony is still frustrated that they don't have the mirror and gets drunk. Suddenly he receives a letter asking where he should tie the dog in the market place, otherwise the mirror would be smashed into a thousand pieces. Wolf and Virginia, on the other hand, get closer and closer and the first kiss occurs. Wolf proposes to Virginia, but she asks him how he can pay for all the effort. Wolf admits he won and Virginia is mad. Virginia tells Wolf that she never wants to see him again. In his anger, he throws the ring into a river.
Anthony ties Prince Wendell with a loose knot in the market square and goes in search of the hunter. He suspects the hunter in a tower, where Anthony finds the mirror, but falls into a trap. The hunter wants to get the dog, but it runs away. The hunter cannot fire an arrow because of the many people on the square and so the dog escapes. People are celebrating the arrival of the fake Prince Wendell. Anthony, on the other hand, climbs out of the tower with the mirror onto the roof. It slips out of his hand, but gets stuck on a chimney. The queen contacts Wolf again. She persuades Wolf to submit to her again. Meanwhile, Tony's mirror slips off, falls on the street and splinters right at Virginia's feet. The residents of the city now attack Anthony and call him a “mirror criminal” because breaking the mirror brings seven years of misfortune . Anthony and Virginia try to put the mirror back together and discover an inscription from the mirror manufacturer.
The three gold-plated trolls, however, ended up with two blacksmiths. They want to melt the gold down, but in doing so they bring the trolls back to life. As they leave the building they meet Anthony, Virginia and Prince Wendell. This time, too, they can escape them again. They start looking for the manufacturer of the mirror they suspect on the Dragon Mountain. However, they argue and so they part at a fork in the road. Virginia takes a steep mountain path alone, while Anthony and Wendell follow a path that winds around the mountain.
The trolls contact the queen. This now claims that Virginia poisoned her father and that they should kill her for it.
At the top of the mountain, Virginia meets Wendell and Anthony again. The three trolls are also hot on their heels. They seek shelter in a cave for the night. The next morning, Prince Wendell leads them to a cave entrance, which apparently consists of the skeleton of a dragon . They discover a kind of slide and use it. In fact, dwarfs live in the Drachenberg who have just made a new “mirror of truth” for Prince Wendell's coronation. Now Anthony, Virginia and Prince are discovered and the dwarves want to kill them because they have illegally entered the 9th Kingdom. When they are about to be executed, they pass the mirror of truth and see in the mirror image the real prince instead of the dog, and Virginia is said to be an important woman. You will be taken to a mirror called Gustav. Ask them to rhyme their question in order to get an answer.
They learn that next to the destroyed mirror there is a second travel mirror in the sea and that the third mirror is in the possession of the evil queen. With his bad luck , Anthony hits a mirror, which destroys many more mirrors in a domino effect . The dwarfs are angry and so Virginia, Anthony and Wendell have to flee again. While escaping from the dwarves, Anthony falls into a hole and can no longer move. Virginia and Wendell go looking for help. At the same time, the hunter has also reached the entrance to the 9th Kingdom. Virginia suddenly finds herself in an ice landscape. There she discovers the tombstone and also the grave of Snow White . Suddenly Snow White appears. She tells that she is her guardian angel. She also explains to Virginia that her predestined mission is to save the 4th Kingdom.
She tells Virginia her famous story. And Virginia learns that one day she will be a great savior for other girls. She gives Virginia a small mirror to help her. Virginia also has a wish granted. She wishes that her father is well again and that his bad luck is over. After Snow White has granted her these wishes, she reveals to Virginia that her father is in great danger. Sure enough, the hunter is with Anthony and Virginia knocks him down just in time. Virginia wants to lead Anthony to Snow White, but she has already disappeared. You discover an exit from the mountain. Virginia looks into a hand mirror she received at the mine. In doing so, she sees the evil queen for the first time and, together with her father, discovers that this is Christine, Virginia's mother. At the same moment the queen notices that she is being watched, but cannot discover by whom.
Part 5
Anthony tells Virginia and Prince more about his ex-wife and Virginia's mother.
The hunter makes common cause with the three trolls in search of the three. The trolls use their troll dust and can actually incapacitate Virginia, Anthony and Prince. Anthony and Virginia escape undetected and make their way to the castle. They have to choose one of two different ways. After your decision you end up in a swampy area . There they meet three elves who give them three pieces of advice on how to behave in the forest: Never drink from swamp water! , Never of the swamp mushrooms eat! and under no circumstances fall asleep in the swamp! They even grant them the desire to be freed from the trolls' remaining bonds. But the elves take the separation a little too seriously and so Anthony and Virginia end up in two separate parts of the swamp. Virginia discovers a dwelling and hears a voice. It seems to be the swamp witch, but when the figure steps outside, Virginia realizes that it is in truth the dwarf acorn who is hiding here. So she learns that the swamp witch used to be the evil stepmother of Snow White. Eichel also tells her that she is buried in the cellar.
Anthony wanders around aimlessly at the same time. He discovers eggs and cookware and prepares an omelette . While he's at it, the mushrooms around him start talking to him. Anthony remembers the elves' second advice. Virginia discovers her father in the forest. Eventually, however, both succumb to the urge to eat mushrooms and drink water. After the meal, however, both are so tired that they fall asleep. While Anthony and Virginia are sound asleep, they both have strange dreams . Just in time, she can save Wolf, who has followed them both unnoticed, from creepers.
Anthony, Virginia and Wolf make their way to the castle together. On the way there, Virginia Wolf promises that she will never hurt him again, while the coronation ball will soon begin at the castle. The queen is happy that the hunter was able to catch the prince in dog form, but is annoyed that he has lost Anthony and Virginia because she senses a danger that emanates from them.
Virginia tells Wolf that the Queen is her mother. Anthony, Wolf and Virginia want to wait for it to get dark and then get into the castle undetected. To do this, they discover a perfectly suitable underground water tunnel. In the castle they go in search of Wendell. They discover the queen's apartments and four magic mirrors, including the travel mirror. Virginia hesitates, however, because she wants to see her mother first. But the queen and the hunter discover them first. Wolf also seems to be on the queen's side again. She claims, however, that she has never seen Virginia and Anthony before. She persuades Virginia that she is unattractive and leads her to a mirror with the intention of killing Virginia. She can even remove the poisoned comb from Virginia that Virginia stole from the swamp witch's grave. Through Virginia, however, the queen also gets her memories back of earlier times. She has Virginia locked up and she ends up in the same cell as her father. Anthony tells Virginia the truth about her mother's disappearance. She wanted to drown Virginia in the bathtub at the time. When this was thwarted by Anthony, Virginia's mother ran away.
The coronation party is slowly getting restless and so the wrong Wendell has to step in front of the guests.
In the dungeon, Virginia discovers an inscription in a wooden beam. If you want to escape, you should turn the two levers. You look around and you can see two rings that actually open a passage out of the cell. The fake Prince Wendell has to face two tests for his bravery and wisdom . In the meantime, Wolf distributes the poison disguised as a drink in the ballroom. Virginia and Anthony meet the three trolls again in the vaulted cellar. Virginia is supposed to go on alone, while Anthony wants to put the trolls out of action.
Queen Cinderella has her doubts and makes them known. The false prince also faces this challenge. So he overcomes the test of modesty and is now to be crowned. When Virginia gets into the ballroom, she is discovered by the hunter and observes with him what is going on. As the guests raise their goblets in a royal toast and drink from them, they gradually all fall down and appear to be dead. The queen orders the hunter to kill Virginia. When he puts on his crossbow, Wolf intervenes and the arrow kills the hunter himself. In a fight between Virginia and the Queen, Virginia scratches her with the poisoned comb. The Queen dies in Virginia's arms. In her last words, however, the Queen admits that she is in fact Virginia's mother. Suddenly the guests gradually regain consciousness . Wolf reveals that he exchanged the poison for troll dust. Prince rushes towards the wrong Wendell and so they swap bodies again.
The current King Wendell gives Anthony, Virginia, Wolf and also the dog the highest honors in the kingdom. Anthony gets a medal. Wolf receives a royal decree that from now on all wolves in the kingdom are no longer allowed to be hunted. Virginia gets a special flower that she places on her mother's grave. When she puts the flower there, it blooms. At the feast, Wolf and Virginia rediscover the singing engagement ring in a fish that had previously eaten it in Kussstadt. Wolf tells Virginia he knows she is pregnant. Virginia returns to the tenth kingdom - to New York - together with Wolf, while Anthony wants to stay a little longer in the nine kingdoms.
The ten kingdoms
- The first kingdom is ruled by Queen Cinderella I and is the oldest and richest of the ten kingdoms. The locals are snobbish and romantic, fall in love and marry at an incredible rate. The frequent divorces have created a large web of intertwined stepfamilies . The kingdom is conservative, old-fashioned and very close to the traditional prince and princess world. The official color is light blue.
- In the second kingdom there are very many large forests and wild wolves. It's full of cake makers, chefs, and gingerbread houses . Queen Little Red Riding Hood III. rules the north and Gretel the great the south. Many civil wars have made the kingdom poor in men and dominated by teenage girls and grandmothers. The official color is brown.
- The third kingdom is ruled by giants because it is where Jack originally planted the beanstalk . However, the bean tendrils have parched the ground so that nothing else grows there. The giants themselves live in the clouds but are a dying species due to alcoholism and low birth rates . Therefore, the trolls lead the land on the ground, but are dependent on raids in other kingdoms. The color of the military is yellow.
- The fourth kingdom is that of Snow White , which is now ruled by Prince Wendell. The kingdom is located in the center of the country, surrounded by all other kingdoms. Therefore all other rulers are aware of the great strategic importance of the empire. The official color is green.
- The fifth kingdom is ruled by the sixth descendant of the Naked Emperor . This country is characterized by excesses, feasts, waste and licentiousness. Nudism is prevalent in many parts of the country . Fraud and corruption are the order of the day. The official color is purple.
- The sixth kingdom was previously ruled by Rapunzel . The entire kingdom, including Sleeping Beauty , is now asleep thanks to a century-old curse that no one has yet been able to break. A large hedge of thorns is part of this curse. Curses, magical traps and puzzles deter many travelers. The official color is pink.
- The seventh kingdom is that of Olaf the Elven King . Except at sunrise and sunset , this realm is invisible. The inhabitants are elves who live on the edge of the great lakes. There are also semi-magical creatures that are mostly unfriendly and mean. Official colors are all colors of the rainbow .
- The eighth kingdom belongs to the Snow Queen . Since it is a land full of snow and ice, there is cold feeling, danger and death. There are a few small fishing villages in the fjords of the south, but the north is rough and wild. The Snow Queen is constantly trying to add the other kingdoms to her kingdom. The official color is white.
- The dwarves live in the ninth kingdom . It is a world of tunnels and tunnels that is below the other realms. The dwarves are the makers of magical mirrors (e.g. travel mirrors ) and the bankers of all kingdoms. The only part of the empire that lies above the earth is a small but rich banking town. Through their association with Snow White, the dwarves have a strong bond with the fourth kingdom.
- The tenth kingdom is considered a fairy tale in the nine kingdoms, but in fact it is our world (probably just the United States ). It is a country full of technology , residents, and civic pride.

The miniseries was created in cooperation between Carnival Films (Great Britain), Babelsberg Film und Fernsehen (Germany) and Hallmark Entertainment (USA). The budget is estimated at 44 million US dollars, which makes the series one of the most expensive television productions of its time.
Most of the shooting took place in Europe. Especially in Austria, Great Britain and France. So served z. B. Hohenwerfen Fortress as the backdrop for the Snow White Memorial Prison (orig. Snow White Memorial Prison ). The Krimmler Falls in Austria served as waterfalls on the Drachenberg . In France it was mainly the city scenes that were filmed. The Écomusée d'Alsace in Ungersheim served as the backdrop for the fictional bean town (orig. Beantown ), while Kaysersberg and Riquewihr served as the backdrop for Kussstadt (orig. Kissing Town ). In England, after all, mostly outdoor shots were filmed in forests and lands.
In the original version, the episodes were designed as 10 episodes with a running time of 45 minutes each. For the broadcast, however, the episodes were cut into double episodes, which spread the version of five films and the series has since been referred to as a five-part series.

Awards
The miniseries won the 2000 Emmy Awards for Best Title Design. This consists of a transformation of the New York skyline into a landscape with forests, waterfalls, castles and mountains. The title song is the song "Wishing on a Star" , sung by Miriam Stockley .
