Miles Flint (Retrieval Artist)

The various races of the galaxy have decided, in order to improve trade relations, that regardless of the world a suspect originates from, the jurisdiction of the world in which the crime was committed applies. The police of every world are required to enforce interstellar arrest warrants and other judgments.

Only the different legal conceptions differ enormously in some points. What is a crime in one world appears to be a perfectly normal act in another. While in one world a criminal has to serve the sentence himself, in another even a child of the criminal can be claimed.

As the concept of making a child atone for the act of a parent obviously suggests, the author intentionally aims to provide points of polarization against which the reader can rub. If you simply transfer the plot one to one to America and the rest of the world, the material gives further cause for criticism. This also applies to the motivation and behavior of the main character "Miles Flint"

There he has to deal with several cases within a very short time: a ship full of corpses; kidnapped human children; a fleeting woman. All three are about the enforcement of interstellar judgments. But what does the extreme accumulation of such cases mean?
