Herodotus Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Herodotus Award was an American literary prize that was briefly awarded from 1999 to 2002 for crime fiction with a historical background in various categories. The award ceremony took place annually at the “Malice Domestic Convention” ( Boucheron for short ) . The award was sponsored by The Historical Mystery Appreciation Society (HMAS) founded by Sue Feder (1951-2005) in 1998 , whose members voted on the winners. The award was named after the ancient Greek historian Herodotus , narrator of the first historical story The History of the Greco-Persian Wars .

In recognition of Feder's achievements, the Mystery Readers International (MRI) has been presenting the Sue Feder Memorial Historical Mystery Award since 2006 , thereby securing the award for historical crime novels.
