Sophie Capewell (born September 4, 1998 in Lichfield ) is a British track cyclist who specializes in the short-term disciplines.

Athletic career

Sophie Capewell comes from a cycling family. Her father was a coach at a club, and after her older sister started racing, she started racing when she was six. Even as a youth driver, she won national titles.

In 2015, Sophie Capewell made her international debut at the European Junior Championships in Athens and narrowly missed a medal with places four (in the sprint ) and five (in the keirin ). The following year, at the Junior European Championships in Montichiari , she won two bronze medals, in the 500-meter time trial and with Lauren Bate in the team sprint .

In 2017, at the age of 18, Capewell became two-time British elite champion, in the keirin and with Bate in the team sprint. In 2019 she became national sprint champion.
