Sophie Friederike of Austria
Sophie Friederike Dorothea Maria Josepha of Austria (born March 5, 1855 in Vienna , † May 29, 1857 in Buda ) was an Austrian Archduchess from the House of Habsburg-Lothringen .
Life
Sophie was the first child of Emperor Franz Josef and Elisabeth of Austria . It was named after her grandmother, the imperial mother Archduchess Sophie .
During a trip to Hungary , to which Empress Elisabeth also took her two daughters Sophie and Gisela , the two sisters fell ill with diarrhea .
While the younger, 10-month-old Gisela recovered quickly, little Sophie grew weaker and weaker until she finally passed away. She was two years old. It was later suggested that typhus , rather than diarrhea and fever, was to blame for her early death.
Sophie Friederike of Austria was buried in the Capuchin Crypt in Vienna .
