Sophie von Hardenberg

Marie Sophie Bernhardine Elisabeth von Hardenberg (born April 16, 1821 in Oberwiederstedt ; † May 12, 1898 in Berlin ) was a German Novalis researcher and anti-feminist .

She was the niece of the early Romantic poet, Friedrich von Hardenberg. Her father was Novalis' brother Georg Anton von Hardenberg , who was born with Annette. von Witzleben was married. Since her uncle died before she was born, Sophie herself had no personal memories of the poet, but she became interested in his life and work at an early age and published several publications about it. Her main work, which she had published anonymously in 1872, is Friedrich von Hardenberg, known as Novalis . Another publication of her deals with the question of women in Germany, in which she very clearly identifies herself as an anti-feminist.

Sophie von Hardenberg remained unmarried and spent her twilight years in Berlin . She was in correspondence with Leopold von Ranke , among others .
